Pandora

I love Pandora Radio. I particularly love The Judds Radio on Pandora. Nothing takes me back to elementary school mornings getting ready for school, listening to the country station with my mom, than The Judds Radio. (Although my favorite song from that time of my life is Sammy Kershaw's "Cadillac Style," which I have yet to hear on The Judds Radio.) My favorite song by The Judds is "Rockin' with the Rhythm of the Rain," hands down. They don't play that one much either, but I heard it on the real radio on the way to work the other day. They play some Dixie Chicks, Tanya Tucker, Pam Tillis, and Allison Krauss. They play George Strait, too, but he seems a little out of place here. It really is quite a good mix of female country artists from the 80s and 90s. Check it out!

Blogs 101 (minus 1)

If you're looking for other blogs to read, this list will give you 100 options to fit your fancy. All of the blogs listed are written by women, which is appealing to those wmst-minded folks like me. Whether you're interested in fitness, politics, or trashy romance novels, you're bound to find something interesting on the list. One thing it's missing, though - there are no "cooking" blogs! Bring on the recipes, please. Surely lots of women write about cooking. Right?

WMST post-graduate work

Liberal Arts degree in Women's Studies.  That's me.  I get funny looks and many comments about how I won't ever do anything with it.  Sorry, folks, wrong.  I use my degree EVERY DAY.  First of all, I am better at my job for going to college in general.  I can research, write, and edit better than a lot of people.  Probably better than anyone who has held my position previously.  (Thanks Mom & Dad.)  Also, the subject I primarily deal with daily is legal protections for women and children, whether it focuses on women in the military, women in relationships, women's health, or women in the workplace.  All the time, I'm telling you!

So I get excited about all things Women's Studies daily.  And I always love to learn about women that I wasn't exposed to during undergrad.  Yesterday, I was drawn to the obituary of Conchita Cintron, expert horsewoman and bullfighting goddess.  What an incredible lady!  I encourage you to read up about her.  A degree in Women's Studies is never complete - there are too many amazing women to ever "graduate."

It's harder than you think

I started a new Bible study last night: Beth Moore's Esther: It's Tough Being a Woman. I was a week behind, so I spent a lot of time catching up on the homework. The study looks like it will be exciting and interesting. I've been through Esther in at least 2 other Bible studies, but never this in-depth. I hope I can keep up with the at-home portion... If I work on it too late, I fall asleep! This will be the first time I go through Esther with a little girl on the way. I want to teach her about being a woman, and how it might be tough at times. Looking forward to a new perspective on Esther this time around.
