F.A.T. Friday

Throughout the year, people can experience a trolley hop on the last Friday of each month to travel up and down Louisville's Frankfort Avenue. There are tons of places to shop, usually offering extended hours, and the local food is second to none.  From art galleries to pubs to live music, Fridays on Frankfort Avenue showcases much of the best Louisville has to offer!

I know, I know. Another long delay in posts. I had to get married and was without internet for quite some time!

Back in cyberspace now, here's the latest buzzword heard at random in our house:

Derby gives seersucker the go ahead

With the possible fashion faux pas associated with seersucker, I googled the rules to make sure I was wearing mine correctly. Of course, the Kentucky Derby gives the go ahead to wear seersucker, so I'm currently safe in the Derby-to-Labor Day window. But what shoes do I wear? One GQ Style Guy explained it the best:

"You can pretty much wear any damn color shoes you like with a seersucker suit—although I would shy away from tan. I would also avoid sandals, Birkenstocks and Rollerblades."

His advice was for men wearing seersucker suits, but I can translate to know I'll have to save my Rollerblades for another outfit.

Respectful Director

Thanks to Laura's latest blog post, I found personaldna.com, a quiz that tells you "your true self revealed." The website labeled me as a respectful director, which is overall pretty fitting based on their trait breakdown. I was surprised, however, to see I scored 86% for "earthy/imaginative" and 36% for "empathy." What does earthy have to do with imaginative? That was my highest score and I don't know what it means! I give myself 92% for "confused."

At the end of August, my cousin will join the ranks of Virginians who left the Old Dominion for Kentucky! I cannot wait to visit her right down the road (only an hour and a half from Louisville) in Owensboro, Kentucky. I have never been to Owensboro and have really never heard anything about it until I heard this news of her move. Quite surely you also didn't know that Owensboro...

1. is Kentucky's 3rd largest city
2. holds the title of "Kentucky's Festival City," hosting over 20 festivals throughout the year, including BBQ, PumpkinFest and Bluegrass festivals
3. sits on the Ohio River bordering Indiana, just like Louisville
4. is home to more several universities: Brescia, Western Kentucky, Kentucky Wesleyan, and Mr. Jim's Beauty College (!) to name a few
5. has it's own song

"Busy"

I realize that it might be disappointing that I don't update my blog very often. I've had a lot going on. I'm reluctant to use the word "busy" because one of my pet peeves is when someone tells you how they are the busiest person in the world, excusing them from all of life's responsibilities. (A sub-category of this pet peeve is when someone admits to being a "bad friend" to excuse and apologize for any bad-friend behavior - as if admitting it makes you a better friend? Not quite.)

The point: Maybe I have been busy, but so has everyone else. Everyone is probably so busy that no one has even noticed I haven't been blogging!

The plan: Satisfy my reader(s)! I tend to remember to do things that I write down, so here's me, writing down my plan to blog more often. See you again in less than 10 days (I promise).
